I am Dr. Amanda Rixey, Physical Therapist, providing services in the Greater Seattle area. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Dance from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS in 2014 and my Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University in Denver, CO in 2018. I specialize in dance medicine, chronic pain conditions, and pilates-based rehabilitation.

Prior to moving to Seattle in 2020, I served on the medical team for the Kansas City Ballet, providing weekly and backstage services for the company.  I have also provided services for numerous touring shows including Love Never Dies, Beautiful, and Dear Evan Hansen, as well as Kansas City Lyric Opera’s Westside Story.  During my time in Denver, I completed my pilates student apprenticeship with Colorado Athletic Club, teaching both private and group fitness equipment and mat classes.

After sustaining numerous personal injuries from a young age and experiencing both sides of care as a patient and provider, I have developed an affinity for working with complex pain conditions across all age ranges that may not respond to the traditional model of physical therapy.  My current area of clinical interest and collaboration lies in understanding and transforming the role of physical therapy in conditions including Functional Neurological Disorders and Hypermobility Syndromes.

In my spare time,  I enjoy walking with friends, playing piano, Pilates practice, and exploring the PNW with my husband and two Newfoundland dogs - Sherlock and Watson.
